Alexander Technique and Horses

May 5, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Come join us for an Introduction to Alexander Technique with Maggie McRae!

In the morning, participants will be introduced to Alexander Technique principles as well as a brief history of the technique. As the technique is taught through a pairing of verbal and hands-on instruction, each student will have the opportunity to receive some hands on work.

After lunch, we’ll head to the barn and students will be able to experience how the Alexander Technique can enhance their riding skills with the assistance of our Blue Rider Staff.

**No previous experience with either riding or Alexander technique required.**

Maggie McRae is an AmSAT certified Alexander Technique teacher based out of Great Barrington, MA. Maggie is a 2017 graduate of Ruth Kilroy’s Alexander Technique Training Center in Newton, MA. She grew up on a small farm between Sanford and Pittsboro, North Carolina.  She graduated from Brevard College in 2011 with a B.A. in Music.

Maggie was first introduced to the Alexander Technique through her music studies. She began taking lessons after breaking her ankle and having surgery in 2011. Maggie initially sought out Alexander Technique lessons to aid in her recovery process, but has found that her studies have enriched every aspect of her life from cooking and cleaning to music and horseback riding.
